Nurturing Sustainable Success for Africa’s Youth and SMEs
Supporting SMEs and young entrepreneurs are key to Africa's sustainable development. SMEs provide 80% of employment on the continent, and most of Africa’s youth aged 18 - 35 are unemployed. Guided by climate adaptation, we are shaping a prosperous and resilient future for Africa, built by its youth and SMEs.
Africa’s Forgotten Middle
Mid-sized SMEs in Africa possess significant potential but often face funding gaps and limited policy support, forcing them to prioritize short-term survival over long-term growth. Despite these challenges, they contribute 40% to Africa's GDP.
Africa’s youth make up over 70% of the continent’s population. Despite being skilled, many remain unemployed, representing a significant untapped labor force.

Our Story
From Heartfelt Beginnings...
Founded in 2011 by the late Pastor Esther Kiarie, Pit to Palace initially aimed to support vulnerable Kenyan children with education, meals, and shelter, transforming 200 lives. Shortly after Esther’s passing in 2017, the initiative gradually slowed down.
...To Transformative Change.
In May 2023, Esther’s daughters Rachel, Isabel, and Charity renewed Pit to Palace to champion Africa’s sustainable development.Today, we focus our efforts on the two most significant pillars for the continent’s sustainable development - its youth and SMEs. With over 70% of Africa’s population under 30, and 80% of employment on the continent provided by its SMEs, it’s obvious why these two groups hold the key to a prosperous future for Africa.
